Initial Jobless Claims Declined by 8,000 in Week Ending Nov. 15

Washington, DC, November 20, 2025-In the week ending November 15, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 220,000, a decrease of 8,000 from the previous week's level, according to the Department of Labor. The four-week moving average was 224,250, a decrease of 3,000 from the previous week's average.

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.3% for the week ending November 8, unchanged from the previous week's rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending November 8 was 1,974,000, an increase of 28,000 from the previous week's level. This is the highest level for insured unemployment since November 6, 2021 when it was 2,041,000. The four-week moving average was 1,960,250, an increase of 6,750 from the previous week's average. This is the highest level for this average since November 20, 2021 when it was 2,004,250.
